Shirts
A friend of mine is making BEAUTIFUL embroidered shirts for us to sell for the Palmetto Hearts 5K. We will be taking pre-orders up until the race and selling the remaining shirts at the race.
I strongly recommend that you get your pre-order in as soon as possible since there is a LIMITED number of shirts! Once they are gone, they are gone.
I do not have a picture to post of them yet since my friend is working on making the sample shirts. I have seen the mock-up and they are going to be ADORABLE!!!
The design for the girl shirt is a white shirt with a heart-tree in the middle with the CHD ribbon. There is a pleated ruffle-ribbon that goes around the bottom and the neckline of the shirt is scalloped.
The design for the boy shirt is a white polo with the words "Celebrate Life" and the CHD ribbon embroidered over the left breast.
I will post pictures as soon as the sample shirts are complete which should be by next Friday. Each shirt will cost $20 and all proceeds benefit Palmetto Hearts.
Again, I strongly recommend getting your order to me, Sara, or Tina as soon as possible. Even if you do not know one of us, feel free to send an email with your contact information to 5K@palmettohearts.org and we will make sure to get a shirt to you!
The following is the list of inventory:

Palmetto Hearts 5K Run & Walk Update
We had a great organizational meeting last night with lots of great ideas for the event. I am really excited about the "Palmetto Hearts 5K Run & Walk presented by Spartanburg Running Club" and think that it is going to be a really fun day of family fellowship for an important cause.
The event is scheduled for:
Saturday, April 14th, 2012
9 AM
Duncan Park, Spartanburg
Registration will open on January 3rd and I hope that everyone is saving the date!
Here is just a glimpse of a few of the things we have planned:
1) Every race entry receives a t-shirt, goody bag, and a door prize ticket. We already have commitments for some really great door prizes! I won't spoil the surprises...
2) There will be a Family Fun Zone complete with bouncy houses.
3) We will be taking pre-orders for adorable specialty embroidered t-shirts for children to wear on race day. Keep and eye on this blog as I will be posting pictures of the shirts and taking pre-orders. A good friend of mine is donating her time to make the shirts. Since they are time consuming, we will limit the pre-order to 30 shirts and will have 30 more to sell on race day. The sample that she is made is precious and we decided on the final design last night.
4) We will be working on a website and Facebook page specific to the race to aid in communication. We hope to have the Facebook page ready soon and the website by December.
5) Be keeping an eye out for the upcoming volunteer opportunities:
February: Be a server at a Valentine-themed pancake breakfast at Fatz (Spartanburg) to benefit Palmetto Hearts.
March: Volunteer for a two-hour shift on a Saturday to help promote the race and collect donations outside of Sam's Club.
April: Volunteer to help on race day.
There are lots more surprises planned, but I don't want to give too much away!
Feel free to contact me anytime at 5K@palmettohearts.org if you have any questions or want to help with the event.
Palmetto Hearts 5K Run & Walk Potential Sponsors
Palmetto Hearts is looking for companies to partner with them to sponsor the race and help families affected by congenital heart disease.

Just Let Me Brag A Little...
Please indulge me... I am SO proud of Caleb! His first report card and computer assessment results came home today. He is in the 98th percentile for reading and the 67th percentile for math.
Lee and I are amazed at his reading abilities. He can read almost anything. I also think that 67th percentile for math is very good. The most amazing thing is that Caleb essentially teaches himself. He absorbs everything that he learns in school and applies it on his own to learn new things. Lee and I do not go out of our way to teach him. I especially feel that it is important for him to be a child and enjoy this special time of his life.
To celebrate, Caleb got to pick anything he wanted for this evening (toy, treat, etc...) limited to $8 which is all that Mommy had in her purse. He chose to pick up Bruster's ice cream for dessert and we will spend this evening celebrating his special achievement.

First NFL Football Game
We took the boys to their first NFL football game last week. The Panthers played Caleb's favorite team, The Steelers. It was a clear win for The Steelers.
Here are a few pictures from the evening:

Getting ready to leave for the game. Both boys insisted on wearing the football outfits (otherwise known as Halloween costumes) to the game.
Caleb was in awe of the stadium!

I think that the Panthers need to keep practicing. The final score was Steelers: 33, Panthers: 17.
